Merry Christmas ! (and see notice below)

I hope you all had a very wonderful Christmas!  I would like to personally thank all of you that went Christmas caroling with us.  I am sure that you noticed what an impression you made on the special people that we visited and sang to.  Many of those people are unable to get out on their own and enjoy the special moments of this holiday season...thank you for bringing a special moment to them...thank you for your 'Christmas Presence".

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  IN-PERSON SESSION on SUNDAY, January 6th is CANCELED.  But, if you are able..please support your fellow Power of One class mate in her project, Caylie is raising money to donate to the 'Move Along program' (it an organization for children and adults that play sports with adaptive sporting equipment due to disabilities).  BOWLING with the Utica College Hockey players at Pin-A-Rama in Utica that Sunday.  (call me for more information or see the flyer in the vestibule of the church). 

ADVENT

 You should -line onl sessions 1 through 3 AND the Advent session completed by THIS SATURDAY, Dec. 15th.

 Also, please remember the next in-person session is THIS SUNDAY at 6pm. We will be leaving promptly at 6, so if you could please arrive about 15min before that we could leave on time.
 We will be caroling at the homes of shut-ins in Tindal Manor and Milgate Meadows. PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR PERMISSION SLIPS. Remember...it is your presence that is important to cheer up those that need it during this Advent. Don't worry if you do not want to actually sing (but it would be really appreciated). It should be a fun experience, I look forward to celebrating this special season with all of you. You are all a gift from God to your community...."A Christmas Presence". Cheryl

WELCOME 2012-13 Power of One Group

Wow...I loved listening to all of your Power of One ideas !  It is always so exciting for me to hear about them and then watch how the ideas develop into wonderful projects. 

You all have such great gifts and I can't wait to see how you put them all into action as you become disciples of Jesus and follow him in your lives.

If you forgot how to leave a comment, or how to use this site in general, please watch the tutorials on the upper right of this site.  That should answer any questions, but if not...please contact me.

YOUR NEXT IN-PERSON SESSION will be either Sunday, Dec. 2nd from 11:15 - 1pm OR Monday evening Dec. 3rd from  6:15 - 8:00 pm.  (Which ever you signed up for or can make).



Please remember to check the schedule between each session as sometimes it changes (see schedule below ).  Also, there is one correction already...March 25 should be March 24 (sorry).

Now, to begin...go to 'Session 1' on the right and do BOTH parts A and B.  Be sure to watch ALL videos, read all assignments and comment using your NUMBER...DO NOT USE YOUR NAME. (if you don't leave your # at the end of your comment, you won't get credit for the assignment...I won't know it's you)

REMINDER to Confirmation Candidates 2012 (Nov. 18th)

Your next in-person session is Sunday, Sept. 30...this is a VERY important Confirmation Prep session...do not miss it:)  You must hand in ALL paperwork at that time. 

Remember to start your letter to the Bishop (Costello) asking to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and WHY you would like to receive it, HOW you have been preparing for it (IE. classes, project, retreat and what they meant to you and your community).  Also in the letter...what name you have chosen and something you admire about that saint or what connection you have to the life or cause of that saint).  Also include the name of your sponsor and WHY you chose that person.

I also need a copy of your Baptism certificate or the approx. date that you were baptized at Annunciation.  



Confirmation is Sunday, Nov. 18th at 2:00pm.  Rehearsal date and time will be given at the Sept. 30th session.

NEXT IN-PERSON SESSION...Sunday, April 22,  11:30- 1:30  Remember that you need to be able to give a 'presentation' to the class about your projects (even if not completed yet) so we can ask question and help you to be ready for the 'ALL FOR ONE CELEBRATION'

IMPORTANT: CONFIRMATION RETREAT has been scheduled for Sunday, July 22nd 3:30pm-9:30pm at the Parish Hall.

In place of March 4th session, you will be joining Fr. Kevin and myself for a 'Meet & Greet' dinner.   Come prepared with some questions about your faith to ask us.  There will also be some conversation about why you are going to be confirmed.  This will be a casual dinner & conversation. Maybe you can get to know a little more about your faith. 

This 'Meet & Greet' is a very important part of your Confirmation Prep. please do not miss it.  (if you have any questions, please call me at 339-0192 (home).  If leaving a message...please, leave your name, number and date of dinner).  Or email me at csmith@syrdio.org  put ( 'dinner' as the subject)
The dates are:  Friday, April 27th @ 6:30
                       Sunday, May 20th @ 6:30
                       Sunday, June 3rd  @ 6:30

Please remember to answer ALL questions up to and including Session 7.

Well, we are well into this Power of ONE year and overall it seems to be going very well ( I hope you agree).  I hope you enjoyed the movie "The End of the Spear".

PLEASE BE SURE TO ALWAYS CHECK THE SCHEDULE (see below)FOR CHANGES...if any.

Sessions 1,2,3 & 4 & 5 should all be completed by FRIDAY, February 3rd !!
NEXT IN-PERSON SESSION:  SUNDAY, FEB. 5TH....11:30-1pm (we will end early due to Super Bowl Sunday activities) I did not realize that class was on Super Bowl Sunday...sorry, but wear your team's logo and we will have some fun and end early.

Also...the "ALL for ONE" Celebration will probably be changed to Sunday, May 6th.    (Set up will be the day before).
